Gone are the days of having to take an entire day off to attend one of the few
Government Motor Vehicle offices to obtain or renew your Drivers’ License
or License plates for your vehicle. Through the development of the Registry Agent
Network, there are over 200 locations across Alberta who can provide these
services with a significantly improved focus on Customer Service.
Most MV services will require clients to appear in person at our counter, rising
from the necessity of protecting your personal information.
It is important that Registry Agents ensure that only you can modify or update your
vehicle information, personal and address information, and obviously
only you can pose for your picture for your license.
Motor Vehicle Services Capped Fees
Most of the Motor Vehicle services such as Licenses, Registration (License Plates)
Abstracts, Searches, etc are capped fee services.
Agents may sell for less, but you will never pay more for these services at Registry
Agents across Alberta. Please call us to find out more.
New Driver’s Licenses
Driver’s Licenses and ID cards are printed from a central, secure location in Canada.
We take the responsibility of protecting your personal
information very seriously! When you attend our office for ID verification and have
your picture taken, then a temporary receipt will be issued.
Like passport photos, your picture now requires a neutral expression (no smiling) as
a further security measure.
These new cards will contain significant anti-fraud and security features , which
are intended to better protect Albertans.
So, don’t wait until the last minute, and make sure your license or ID card is
valid before you head to the airport for your next trip!!!
Graduated Driver’s License Program
May of 2003 marked the launch of the GDL program for new Alberta Drivers.
This program places certain practical and reasonable limits on new drivers, and
adds additional testing periods for re-classification of licenses.
Zero alcohol tolerance, specific demerit suspension rules, and number of passengers
are issues that are restricted and examined. For more information,
go to Service Alberta.
Vehicle Identification Numbers

digits in length. The 10th digit from the left is the YEAR
designation of the vehicle. Please refer to the following table to confirm the year
of the vehicle in question:
