Online Services Available

Vehicle registration requirements vary depending on the type of vehicle, its use, and your situation. Select the service that applies to you:

Renewal Reminder Service

The Renewal Reminder Service helps you receive reminders before selected Alberta registry renewals are due. You can use this service to sign up for reminders for vehicle registration, driver’s licence renewal, Alberta identification card renewal, company vehicle registration, and corporate annual return filing. This service is useful if you want advance notice before a renewal date. It does not complete the renewal for you.

Standard Driver’s Abstract

A Standard Driver’s Abstract provides a summary of information from an individual’s Alberta driving record. It may include driver information, licence status, conviction information, demerit points, and suspensions. This abstract is commonly used when someone needs a copy of their own driving record for personal, employment, insurance, or administrative purposes.

Commercial Driver’s Abstract

A Commercial Driver’s Abstract provides a more detailed driving record for commercial driving situations. It includes most of the same information as a Standard Driver’s Abstract, along with Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspection information. This service may be relevant for commercial drivers, employers, carriers, fleet operators, and businesses reviewing driver safety history.

In-Transit Permit A-B

An In-Transit Permit A-B allows an unregistered vehicle or trailer to be moved from one point to another when it does not have valid registration and a licence plate. This permit may apply when the vehicle or trailer needs to be transported between two locations and the origin or destination is in Alberta. A printed copy of the permit must be carried during transportation.

Other In-Transit Permits

Other in-transit permit options may apply when the vehicle is being used for a specific temporary purpose. These may include permits for demonstration or test drive purposes, repairs or service, and salvage vehicle situations. If your situation is not a simple point A to point B movement, review the other in-transit permit options to confirm which permit type applies.
